Limburg, always a warm welcome
Bed & Breakfast “Molendijk” is an Guest-House situated in the southeast of the Netherlands, between the Burgundian Maas villages Arcen and Velden, and offers a multitude of touristic possibilities. More precisely our accommodation in the province Limburg Maasduinen can be found in the neighborhood “Hasselderheide”.
Hasselderheide is a part of of the municipal Velden, 6 kilometers north of Venlo and 6 kilometers south of Arcen . The accomodation is situated on the outskirts of Hasselderheide. The forest is les than a minute away from the appartment. On the east of Hasselderheide the small village Schandelo can be found.
There are several bike tours possible in the area like “Bourgondic Limburg by bike”, “Biking without borders”, “Biking along the river Maas” and “Passing small characteristic Maas villages”. During these bike rides several small ferries are at your disposal, like “the Maashopper”.
Lots of culinary outings are possible around the are of Arcen & Velden. One of them is tasting beer at the Hertog-Jan proeverij and the brewery from Arcen. We also recommend a trip to the grain distillery “de IJsvogel”, Arcens’ castle gardens and the thermal spa.
A lot of bike and walking/hiking routes are easily accessible like the culinary Maasduinen bike route or the Pieterpad. More local walking routes are: Binneste Boète Ommetje (Inside Out route), De Krosselt route, ‘t Vorst-Hasselt etc. Crossing the road from out apartment you walk straight into the forest!
During a relaxing walk through the forest at the “Witteberg” and the Ravenvennen you can enjoy the sounds of nature… crickets, bird, and the wind through the leaves. You can also enjoy an original Velden pancake at restaurant/pancake house “Jagersrust”.
Also the centre of Arcen and Velden provides lots of seasonal activities.
There are plenty of possibilities for families with children. Like the family theme park Toverland in Sevenum -, Indoor playground “Ballorig” and playground Klein Zwitserland in Venlo.
It’s also worth mentioning the possibilities of visiting the city center of Venlo or the Outlet Center in Roermond.
Thanks to the excellent routes and a beautiful countryside North Liburg is an excellent bike and walking area. On those routes you can visit the most beautiful sites North Limburg has to offer!
